Recognizing Temptation

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

  • Proverbs 4:14-15 – Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
  • Proverbs 6:27-28 – Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned? Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?
  • Psalm 1:1-2 – Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
  • Proverbs 22:3 – The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.
  • Matthew 5:29-30 – If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
  • Proverbs 13:20 – Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
