In Numbers 26:29, Gilead is identified as a man from the tribe of Manasseh, living during the time of Israel’s wilderness journey. He is described as the son of Machir and the brother of several individuals, including a daughter of Machir, Peresh, Sheresh, and Hammolecheth. Gilead is also noted as the father of Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shechem, Shemida, and Hepher.

b. Father of Jephthah

Gilead was the father of Jephthah, one of the judges of Israel before the monarchy period (Judges11:1)
