Joezer

Who was Joezer in the Bible?

Man living at the time of Divided Monarchy

Joezer is a person mentioned in the Bible in 1 Chronicles 12:6. He is described as a man living at the time of the Divided Monarchy. The Divided Monarchy refers to the period after the reign of King Solomon when the nation of Israel split into two kingdoms: the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah.

From a biblical point of view, Joezer’s inclusion in the biblical narrative highlights the importance of individual members of society during times of political and spiritual division. Although not much is known about Joezer beyond his name and the time period he lived in, his presence in the biblical record serves as a reminder that God is aware of and values every individual, no matter how seemingly insignificant their role may be.

In 1 Chronicles 12:6 , Joezer is listed among the Gadites who joined David at Ziklag while he was fleeing from King Saul. This act of loyalty and support towards David, who was God’s anointed king, reflects Joezer’s faithfulness and commitment to God’s chosen leader.

As believers, we can draw inspiration from Joezer’s example to remain steadfast in our faith and support for those whom God has appointed to lead, even in times of division and uncertainty. Just as Joezer stood with David during a tumultuous period in Israel’s history, we are called to stand firm in our faith and allegiance to God and His purposes, trusting that He is sovereign over all circumstances.

While Joezer may not be a prominent figure in the Bible, his presence serves as a reminder that every individual has a role to play in God’s unfolding plan of redemption, and that even the seemingly lesser-known individuals are significant in God’s eyes.
